Learning Objectives:

Understand the significance of the periodontium in the long-term survival of the dentition and, therefore, the longevity and success of the dentist’s prescribed treatment.
Understand the various non-surgical and surgical periodontal treatment modalities available.
Understand when to indicate crown lengthening procedures to enhance the restorative outcome and perform simple crown lengthening procedures in non-aesthetic regions.

 

Average teacher-student ratio: 1 : 20 (for lecture), 1 : 5 (for clinical supervision)

 

Clinical case requirement: 2 cases of crown lengthening surgery in non-aesthetic region

Assessment: Didactic, Demonstration & Examination – 10 hrs

Understand the significance of the periodontium in the long-term survival of the dentition and therefore, the longevity and success of the dentist’s prescribed treatment. Update on the systemic link with periodontitis.

 

Lecture 2 13th Apr 2024
Understand when to indicate crown lengthening procedures to enhance the restorative outcome and perform simple crown lengthening procedures in non-aesthetic regions.

A) Understand the various non-surgical and surgical periodontal treatment modalities available. Business of periodontics Success and failure Guided biofilm therapy, prophyjet, periochip, periocline. Benefits of dentifrices and probiotics.
