Periodontology is the part of dentistry which focuses on the management of the supporting (periodontal) structures of the tooth. Management starts with periodontal charting. Periodontal patients might require non-surgical or surgical procedure, and more complex home care. Dental assistant plays an important role in educating patients about their conditions and home care routine. Participants would also learn what are the specialised instruments needed during the periodontal surgery.
