Synopsis

The 2 Days Certificate in Assisting Oral Surgery is designed to prepare dental assistants with essential theoretical knowledge and practical understanding required to support oral surgical procedures. The course introduces participants to common oral surgery procedures, surgical preparation, infection control, basic trauma management, postoperative care, medications, and dental radiography fundamentals. Emphasis is placed on the assistant’s role before, during, and after surgery to ensure patient safety, procedural efficiency, and effective clinical support.

The course will cover 6 subjects/modules as follows:

1. Introduction to Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
2. Surgical Procedures & Assisting Techniques
3. Oral & Maxillofacial Trauma and Pathology
4. Infection Control Set-up
5. Postoperative Care & Medications
6. Dental Radiography for Oral Surgery

 

Average teacher-student ratio: 1 : 20 (for lecture), 1 : 4 (for clinical supervision)

 

After each module, students will be assessed on their theoretical knowledge.
